Surrey Heath Probus Club......

Surrey Heath Probus Club - Welcome Note

Camberley Heath Golf ClubPROBUS is alive and well in Surrey Heath - If you have not heard of Probus, the title is a contraction of PROfessional and BUSiness. The organisation sets out to provide a group that can offer opportunities for aged 55 or over and who have retired (or nearly retired) to meet together in a social rather than business context. Although Probus is a National and International Association, each of the Clubs is fully autonomous and manages its own affairs.

The Surrey Heath Probus Club was formed over 20 years ago and has 75 members. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month for a lunch at the Camberley Heath Golf Club and, after the meal, there is usually a talk on some topic of interest.

In July of each year there is a special lunch at which the ladies are invited and in December the occasion is made a little more formal by a pre-Christmas dinner for the ladies and for invited guests. In addition to the monthly meetings, the Club organises outings throughout the year, usually to a play or concert in the winter and with a more outdoors flavour during the summer.

On an occasional basis there is a weekend away somewhere in UK or perhaps a longer overseas visit. So far in 2010, the Club has had long week-ends away
in Bath, Chester + North Wales and a River Rhine Cruise.

The Club's AGM is held in May, at which a new President is elected to head up the Club for the year, together with new members for the Committee which runs the club affairs.

At present the Club would welcome new members and if you are interested in finding out more, or have friends who might be, please use the form on this WEB site to make contact and we will get back to you
